Inspired by a series of sculptures entitled Fat Car, which depict “puffy, obese, life-size sculptures that bulge like overfilled sacks”, Swarovski Kristallwelten (Crystal Worlds) asked world-renowned, Erwin Wurm to create a fun and child-friendly food van in his unique style.

The result is the Dicker Bus or “Fat Bus” in English, a classic decommissioned VW Campervan, reincarnated as a totally unique and hugely fun stationary hot dog stand and one of the most popular attractions at the Crystal Worlds.

The mustard yellow of the van was specifically chosen by Erwin to convey the hotdog theme, while the curvy shape of the bus and trailer is designed to be fun, playful, filled with humour and happiness.

Following its launch, as part of our ongoing branding work with Swarovski Kristallwelten, Mystery was tasked with designing the DickerBus identity, menus, aprons, takeaway packaging and all POS collateral for this hugely fun concept.

Working with the original design and colour scheme to inspire our designs, the new graphics for the identity, aprons and packaging are inspired by the curvy shape of the Fat Bus, while the pattern reflects the form of the sauces squeezed along the hot dogs.

The overall look, in alignment with the bus itself, is simple, appealing to children, entertaining, colourful and fun.
