We’re really excited to have another new face in the studio...and welcome the return of an old one! Magenda Alieu has recently joined Mystery as junior brand designer, while our former fabulous intern, Monika Bachta has now graduated (with a First, of course!) and returned as junior interior designer.
Magenda Alieu is a graphic design graduate from Coventry University who has been working as a web designer for over 10 years at well-known design agencies.
Passionate about all areas of design, she has a background in digital design, print and illustration, and outside of her web designer roles has also worked on a freelance basis as a brand designer with individuals, start-ups and small businesses seeking all-round brand design solutions.
“I love working across different disciplines, combining traditional and modern design processes to create thoughtfully crafted print and digital design solutions. Over the years I’ve worked with some fantastic people who are just as dedicated to what they do as I am. Collaboration for me is key to growth as a designer, so investing in relationships and joining forces is what I’m most passionate about.”
As a vegan and keen cook, Magenda is inspired by the quality and creativity of health food brands and packaging and is often to be found in her favourite health food stores, checking out and collecting interesting packaging designs. [She does pay for them ;)]
A Londoner most of her life, Magenda loves the city’s melting pot of different cultures, artistic expressions and architecture, which inspires both her design work and her passion for illustration, cooking and photography. She’s also a huge fan of street art and way it transforms cityscapes.
Monika Bachta, originally from Poland, graduated with a BA in Interior Design from the University of Huddersfield – a year of which was spend on placement in London - six months at Campaign and a little over three months at Mystery!
She went back to Huddersfield for her final year, graduating with a First and we were more than happy to welcome her back to our Kentish Town Studio as a permanent member of the interior design team.
Her love of design and enthusiasm is infectious. “I just love how fun and playful design can be and the lack of boundaries that mean you continue to be surprised on a daily basis. Being a designer can be very challenging, but also extremely satisfying, making it a great career choice. Working in the studio is certainly never boring and I’m very lucky I get to do what I love.”
A Vegetarian, nature and animal lover, Monika lives within two minutes of Hampstead Heath, one of her favourite places in London. She has a guinea pig called Meatball and is absolutely obsessed with Marine Biology, especially killer whales. “I’ve probably watched 'Free Willy' about 30 times!’
In her free time, Monika loves discovering quirky places in London, drinking mulled wine cold and reading books (if not watching Netflix). She’s also a big music festival fan and loves travelling, Iceland being current top of her travel list. She cannot live without coffee - black and strong – and has Tomato Ketchup on pretty much everything!
We look forward to lots of great projects with these two exceptionally talented designers.SHARE THIS STORY
