We recently took a trip up to Bury-st-Edmunds to see how our fabulous client, Gastrono-Me was doing. Answer: amazingly!! This truly inspirational neighbourhood café, deli and bakery, creates addictively gorgeous food in a friendly environment, served by owners and staff who genuinely care about both their food and their customers in equal measure.

Owned and founded by husband and wife team, Gemma and Mike Simmonite, Gastrono-Me started as a regular market stall in Bury St Edmonds, before taking a permanent space in the town.

After five years it was time to move and evolve and the couple asked Mystery to help them evolve their concept to an all-day and night café and design their new space on Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds. We were, of course, only too happy to help!

The success of Gastrono-Me was almost a happy accident. Inspired at the very outset by beautiful dishes and colourful flavours from every part of the world, Gemma and Mike simply wanted to recreate these at home and share them with friends and neighbours to bring joy to their life.

Mystery evolved the identity and branding, designed the interiors, graphics and signage for the new shop and created a drawing pack and FF&E for the contractors to follow for the fit-out.

The new Gastrono-Me shop is hugely busy at all times and getting great reviews from both old regulars and new customers. It certainly looks set to exceed all expectations from the client, customers and other local businesses.

Michael Kirkham from the BSE BID said: “Wow to @Gastrono_me in the lovely Abbeygate St. Don’t just be marvelled by the vibrant exterior, go inside and be prepared to be dazzled! You won’t want to leave!”

“We are literally blown away with the beauty, inventiveness, and perfection of it all,” said Gemma Simmonite. “Thank you so much for all the hard work and we can’t wait for every new step of this adventure with you.”

It was most definitely our pleasure!
